A ski holiday in Valloire and Valmenier

The biggest resort in the Maurienne Valley, Valloire sits between the Trois Vallées and the Italian border. The domain is composed of three areas: Le Sétaz, Le Crey du Quart and Valmeinier. The ski area of Valloire is linked to that of Valmeinier and offers 150 km of pistes (many of them north facing) on 4 massifs equipped with a large range of ski lifts and 375 snow cannons ensuring comfortable skiing from December up to the end of April. Other sports which are on offer and which you may like to try include telemark, cross-country and snow shoeing. For snow boarders Valloire boasts a well equipped snowpark complete with halfpipe.

For beginners there are runs at the top of the mountain, ensuring good snow all season long. For intermediates there is a good choice of blues and reds and for the advanced there are some challenging blacks. As a resort, Valloire is relatively inexpensive and has some highly recommended French and international restaurants along with a number of music bars and discos, although nightlife tends to be more relaxed than at some resorts! This perhaps contributes to its reputation as an excellent family resort. The resort also offers good shopping, a bowling alley, sports centre and an ice rink.
